About The Three Horseshoes

The Three Horseshoes, is located on Pithouse Lane in Leamside, County Durham. The "Shoes" - as it is affectionately known to its regulars – is a traditional English country pub serving traditional beer and real ales. The Back Room restaurant to the rear, as the name would suggest, offers spacious and comfortable surroundings serving and sourcing the best food around.

There is ample car parking and a spacious beer garden in which to relax with a drink after your meal on a glorious summer evening! (Umbrellas may be provided!!!) The bar to the front of the pub retains a traditional feel and boasts real fires for the winter months plus satellite TV to watch sporting action in comfort.

We offer a wide selection of menus from our standard menu to our early dining menu, our food is served daily from 12 until 9.30pm, and our early dining menu is served Monday to Friday 12 until 6.30 and Saturday 12 until 5.

The Three Horseshoes had recently been added to the latest edition of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. The bar features nine hand pumps with Timothy Taylor’s Landlord as the resident beer plus seven guest ales and one real cider. The guest ales are sourced from all over the country and many are not seen anywhere else in the area.

Stopped off for a bar meal and was much impressed with the standard of service and food. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door, and that always helps.

I had a brown bread sandwich - probably the thickest I've ever seen with plenty of filling. My partner had a beautiful omelette which was cooked to absolute perfection (none of your yellow rubber tyre syndrome.)

Very impressed with The Three Horseshoes. We'll be back for a full restaurant meal next time.

Don't visit the "Shoes" expecting a gourmet dining experience. Go, instead, expecting to eat good honest, fresh pub food with imagination and flair and you will definitely not be disappointed. I had honey & mustard baked chicken fillets, and they were delicious.

All the menu ingredients really are sourced locally and they brew their own VERY drinkable ale on the premises as well. The staff were very friendly and efficient, so I will certainly be making this one of my regular stop-offs when I'm up North
