Don't visit the "Shoes" expecting a gourmet dining experience. Go, instead, expecting to eat good honest, fresh pub food with imagination and flair and you will definitely not be disappointed. I had honey & mustard baked chicken fillets, and they were delicious.

All the menu ingredients really are sourced locally and they brew their own VERY drinkable ale on the premises as well. The staff were very friendly and efficient, so I will certainly be making this one of my regular stop-offs when I'm up North

Review of The Greenhouse - Cwmbran - Torfaen written 6 Mar 2012

The Greenhouse is a small country pub that's part of the Brains Brewery chain. It has a small bar and a newly-extended restaurant area. This tends to create an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Conversely, the lawned beer garden is huge, so it's great if you are nearby in the summer. Apparently, they also host barbeques which are very popular.

The beers are primarily Brains but the prices are good and there's a fair selection of real ales. The pub recently had a total refurbishment so the furniture is in good nick and there are nice slate floors

The food is excellent and the staff and owners were very friendly. Watch out for the ghost of a former landlady who is rumoured to roam the pub!!

Review of Craig Y Nos Castle - Penycae - Powys written 29 Feb 2012

We arrived very late but the staff genuinely welcomed us. The bar was still open so once we had put our luggage away we went and sat by the fire and had a drink before bed. Our room was in the atrium and was excellent with a large bathroom with heated rails and an amazing shower!

Breakfast the next day was great, really you can order what you want. The evening meal (in the bar) was also first class. The staff were very friendly and chatty. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

**The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble.
**The food was excllent and the portions huge.
**The grounds are beautiful and the castle is quirky and homely (we loved having drinks by the log fire)
