About Stair Inn

Nestling in the picturesque country village parish of Stair, 6 miles from Ayr and Prestwick Airport, in the very heart of ‘Ayrshire and Burns Country’, (we call it 'Stairshire'!) is a quite delightful little authentic Scottish country inn, Ayrshire’s only 3 star inn. So convenient for all these famous Ayrshire golf links and championship courses, as well as having its own very special brand of warm welcoming hospitality.

You’ll discover a magical, cosy little inn in the country and, emphatically, without the stuffiness of a country house hotel. There’s none of that snooty nostalgic stuff here – just good old fashioned Scottish hospitality. Inns in Scotland don’t come much better than this. You’ll be pushed to find an Ayrshire hotel with more charm and atmosphere.

Apart from world class Ayrshire golf, enjoy theatre, great shopping, a flutter at Ayr Races – and an area becoming quite quaint but quintessential in its appeal with the shadow of the great poet Robert Burns always looming - and magnificent award winning beaches and great boat trips on the paddle steamer Waverley not so far away either.

Stair Inn now has its own smokehouse and offers customers the opportunity to purchase some of our products. Check out our selections from the smokehouse – a quite unique selection of freshly prepared delicacies to complement your dining experience, always available at Stair Inn

Had a great two night stay at the Stair Inn near Mauchline. It's a superb location, and the rooms were excellent. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We were always met with a smile. The evening meals on both nights were absolutely top notch. Not a wide choice, but all Scottish classics, sometimes with a subtle international twist. Certainly the food is excellent value. (The breakfasts are fabulous!) Overall a very enjoyable wining and dining experience.
