About The Old Boathouse

This super family friendly café/restaurant, with alfresco dining is overlooking the beautiful bay of Red Wharf. The food is simple, approachable and flavoursome. Food is presented on big white plates with no fuss and a friendly manner.

We are situated overlooking the beautiful bay at Red Wharf. Whilst dining outside you will have stunning views of the beach. If you decide to dine in our restaurant upstairs you will certainly see Red Wharf at it's best. With uninterupted views of the bay. It is certainly worth asking for a window table.

We serve breakfast, lunches, afternoon teas, evening meals. If you have any special dietary needs we will do our utmost to accomodate you. We can also hold small functions, christenings, weddings and funerals for up to 50 people. We are also fully licensed with a good selection of wines to compliment your meal. we also have a good selection of beers.

We have an extensive specials board, which changes daily and we are well known for our local fish dishes, such as Moules Mariniere, Smoked haddock gratin and grilled seabass.

You really should try our home made scones, a speciality and delicious served with butter, jam & cream, how can you resist? If the scones don't tempt you we have a selction of cakes in our cabinet, carrot cake, caramel shortbread, rasberry & coconut slice and another particular favourite with all our regulars is victoria sponge cake.

We were staying nearby on a long weekend and The Boathouse was a gem of a discovery. During the day, it's family-friendly although at night, it's maybe more of a "grown up" place. If you want a table upstairs in the evenings, it's advisable to book ahead but there are other tables near the bar down below, so no big problems.

No need to dress up for this busy bistro. We enjoyed the food although the helpings were oversize even for us. On the second night we shared a starter and went without desserts - and that was still sufficient. The food was hot and fresh we never had wait long after ordering.

The staff were most helpful and looked after us very well and we had a couple of great evenings with lovely food and a few beers in the bar later. The location (Red Wharf Bay) is one of the most beautiful settings on Anglesey. Highly recommended
