I agree with the two reviewers before me. The food is very good, but the prices can be a little difficult to justify. One of the few places I've been to where they know how to cook liver properly (still pink in the middle). Excellent wine list and very pleasant surroundings. Five stars if it wasn't for the size of the bill at the end!

Certainly one of the top ten IoM restaurants, Portofino understands food! Mind you, with an Italian management, they should! The menu and wine list have sufficient choice, though some of the prices can be a little eye-watering.

If I have one recommendation for them, it would be to offer a wider choice of apperitif other than just whisky or Martini! A "cocktail maison" at the very least would be a welcome addition.

Other than that, if your pocket can stand it, by all means eat at Portofino.

Not the first time we've been to Portofino, but it may be a while before we go back. Yes, the prices were high but the food was excellent and the staff were fine. However the owner is getting VERY self-important and it takes the edge off the meal.
