About The Bathwick Boatman

Just 10 minutes stroll from Bath City Centre this lovely restaurant overlooks one of the prettiest reaches of the River Avon. Perched above Bath’s historic boating station, this old rowing clubhouse is a charming place to enjoy lunch or dinner.
There is a private car park or you could hop on a boat from Pulteney Weir!

Inspired by their years in Italy, chef-owner Ben Hall and his wife Rosy offer a deliciously simple and rustic menu made with the freshest produce on the market. Everything is freshly prepared on the premises and the dishes reflect Ben’s love of robust earthy flavours. Dedicated to using local produce (veg and salad are grown just by Solsbury Hill), and maintaining good value, Ben has an ever changing specials board and serves smaller portions for children.

The Boatman is a relaxed and informal restaurant for any occasion. You can pop by for coffee on the tranquil terrace, a light lunch or a candle lit dinner. Punts and rowing boats are for hire from the Boating Station just below the restaurant and there is a private customer car park.

Our meat is farm-reared or free-range. Our vegetables and salad are non-sprayed, and locally grown wherever possible

The surroundings, the service and the food were all excellent. The staff were attentive, welcoming and courteous.

I had the goats cheese as a starter and it was truly delicious. The smoked salmon was plentiful and all our roast dinners were cooked to perfection. It's clear they only use the best ingredients. This restaurant deserves to succeed and I, for one, will definitely return - maybe when we can enjoy sitting outside in the sun overlooking the river. Don't be afraid to give it a try
