I only stopped by for a sandwich and glass of ginger beer while I was visiting Cregneash village and was well impressed with their service, their smiles, their fresh food, and everything about the place. It was sort of 'quaint' without trying to be, and that worked well for me.

Review of The Famous Creg Ny Baa - Onchan - Isle of Man written 28 Oct 2012

Refreshing to go into a bar as a complete stranger and be welcomed like you were one of the family! The staff are terrific. The food is excellent - good quality pub grub - the beer is spot on and the location is unique. As gastro pubs go, The Creg is head and shoulders above many others I've been to. I'll be happy to go back next time I visit the Isle of Man

Review of Bride Tearooms & Bistro - Bride - Isle of Man written 28 Oct 2012

The welcome was warm, the food was tasty and arrived quickly, and I especially liked the lasagne. Plenty of different drinks available (including beers and wines for the adults). The staff were cheerful and polite and it proved to be good value for money.

Review of The Westbourne - Swansea - Swansea written 29 Jun 2012

Spent the weekend in Swansea with an old mate, and he headed straight for The Westbourne. This is a solid town-centre pub and eatery aimed primarily at younger clients (if you are over 45-50, you possibly won't appreciate it). It has a varied menu, from snacks, light lunches to main meals - something for everyone. Good value, good quality food.

Also, a good honest place to have a drink (some excellent real ales on tap). Nice staff and very relaxed. Big screen TV for the footy. This is the kind of place that should exist in all the suburbs. Has simple outside seating which is probably great in the summer, having a pint on the way home from work and watching the world go by.

Went to The Grange with a group of friends specifically because we had heard the curry was good. It was! We couldn't fault the food or the service! Staff are friendly and polite and the food really is top class Indian (there are plenty of European food choices too).

Prices were about okay, but if there was a small negative it's that the bar felt a bit "sterile" (lots of hard surfaces and no comfy cushions). But that was a small price to pay for a darn good meal.

Review of The Olive Tree - Guildford - Surrey written 15 Dec 2011

Went to The Olive Tree on a cold, windy evening and was greeted with toasty log fires. I had reserved a table in advance - good job too, because they were pretty busy. Food was served quickly and efficiently. My char-grilled sirloin steak was excellent and my partner enjoyed the scallops wrapped in bacon with a cream and cointreau sauce. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and the bill left me with change in my pocket! All in all, a very pleasant evening. Highly recommended.
