Had a great two night stay at the Stair Inn near Mauchline. It's a superb location, and the rooms were excellent. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We were always met with a smile. The evening meals on both nights were absolutely top notch. Not a wide choice, but all Scottish classics, sometimes with a subtle international twist. Certainly the food is excellent value. (The breakfasts are fabulous!) Overall a very enjoyable wining and dining experience.

Excellent food and excellent service. My partner??™s seared breast of Scottish pheasant starter was superb as was my cullen skink soup, (beautiful haddock taste). I followed up with an Aberdeen Angus fillet steak that simply melted in my mouth. Meanwhile 'er indoors had the venison fillet - and was well happy.

Prices were somewhat "up-market" and the cooking smells were rather obvious, otherwise it would have been a solid five stars.

The food is as good as the views- and they are amazing, with window seats looking out onto the Royal & Ancient clubhouse and the sands. Prices may come as a bit of a shock, particularly the wines, but the place was full when I went there so it looks like people don't mind paying for quality.

Nice surroundings in a large well-lit conservatory. The a la carte menu has a good selection and are good value. The service was fast, efficient and cheerful (if sometimes a little amateur). The food, was excellent. Hot, fresh, tasty and exactly what was expected. The whole experience of Guidi's was also refreshing and the space in the restaurant when dining was a big plus... very open and not on top of each other. A good place to go for a decent Italian.
