Hard to find but worth the effort. The atmosphere is warm & cosy, both in the restaurant and the bistro. The food is exactly the same in both so just go where you are most comfortable.

Put very simply, the steak here is truly excellent and they understand the word 'blue'. The cullen skink is a meal in itself and the chef has invented some really interesting desserts! The staff are old fashioned in the best sort of way - courteous and professional to a fault. Very Highly Recommended

This is like a home for us when feel like a Chinese. You should try their buffet which is excellent. Everything is cooked fresh and you can decide for yourself on the quantity - if you need more they will cook more for you. Specialty here is the fact that everything they serve is fresh and piping hot and also the way they serve is excellent, quick, efficient and polite. More places like this would be an real improvement to the restaurant scene!

The Chequered Skipper is a great setting overlooking the village green in Ashton (it's worth the trip up a country lane to get there!) This thatched gastro pub is the American tourists photographic dream. Inside its all light wood decor. Great real ales, extensive wine list. Excellent service with any unusual requests seamlessly accommodated. Food was lovely and fresh, perfectly cooked and well presented by amiable staff. What more could you ask for?
