It was pleasant, sunny evening when I went, so naturally the huge terrace and outdoor eating areas were already full. It made for a great atmosphere but meant we had to sit indoors (poor us!).

The Riverbank team couldn't have been more accommodating. We were seated promptly in the restaurant, the service was efficient, staff enthusiastic and the food was of impressive quality. We left thoroughly satisfied after a wonderful and delicious evening. Try the chorizo starter and Chicken main!

Review of Jaks Bar & Steak House - Douglas - Isle of Man written 8 Aug 2012

Bit noisy up top, but nicely subdued downstairs in the restaurant. I had the 10oz rump steak and it was so tender I could have easily cut it with the wrong side of the knife. She who is to be obeyed had the rib-eye and said it was out of this world (bit like her then!). Lots of choices for the main courses, all served with excellent roast potatoes and fresh veg. Tables were a bit close together, but the meal more than made up.

Review of The Staghunters Inn - Lynton - Devon written 20 Jun 2012

The Staghunters Inn is absolulety fantastic, a real tradional gem, run by a very friendly family. It's a superb environment for dog owners as they are allowed in both bars (as long as they behave!). The food is really excellent - home cooked traditional - you should try their venison - it's so tender and tasy! There is a very good menu choice at reasonable prices. There are also daily specials, the starters are huge and may satisfy a small apetite on their own. Highly recommended!

Review of Black Boy Inn - Caernarfon - Gwynedd written 9 Apr 2012

Excellent in every detail, great food and customer service! This was the most memorable few days of our holiday and I would return any time! We arrived late, wet and cold (wife's idea to rent bikes for the day - huh!). However, the staff made sure there was hot food for us even though we got there after the the normal kitchen closing time. It's that sort of considerate service that money can't buy.

The Black Boy has earned the Cask Marque award for the quality of their ales. They also featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide. The bar area is quite small and the rest of the pub is really dedicated to food. And not surprisingly, it's extremely popular with the locals. Marius, the chef, and his team create amazing unfussy but skillful dishes using quality local ingredients and it shows.

If you get a chance to visit (stay) at The Black Boy, don't hesitate. You'll not regret it.

Review of The Bear Inn - Belper - Derbyshire written 21 Oct 2011

Sorta hard to find, but worth it when you do. It's a nice16th century buiding which has been a coaching inn for hundreds of years. Friendly staff and the food is excellent. There's also a good selection of real ales (Timothy Taylor Landlord straight from the barrel) and wines and whiskies too. The pub is lit by many lamps and candles in the evening, and is decorated with old pictures, crockery and country paraphernalia. In winter there are hearty fires. Good pub - good food.
