Review of Dishoom - London - London W written 1 Oct 2012

The place is undoubtedly a crowd-puller, open from breakfast (for egg, bacon or sausage nan rolls with chilli jam), straight through to lunch and dinner, with soups, salads, grills and curries

We had some vada pau (potato croquettes with sharp chutney in a fluffy Portuguese-style bun) and bhel (crunchy puffed rice with sharp tamarind chutney and pomegranate seeds), which were great (much nicer than your average kebabs and curries!)

I'm told queues are common in the evening (reservations are taken for breakfast and lunch, but only for groups of six or more in the evenings); however, there's a bar downstairs, so waiting is no hardship.

Review of Haven Bistro & Bar - Whetstone - London N written 7 Sep 2012

What an evening. Booking was courteous and when we got there the staff greeted us with big smiles. The atmosphere really hit the spot with lovely paintings, cosy lighting and we were surrounded by orchids. We ordered scallops, asparagus, hand cut chips, liver and rib eye steak with wine of the month. What a meal. absolutely amazing. The portions were so generous that we skipped the desserts.

On the way out, our coats arrived in seconds. Highly recommended for a return visit.

We had an amazing meal in The Boathouse restaurant where we had a terrific view of the iconic Forth bridge - you can also eat in the bistro if you prefer. Service was quiet and courteous, honest and really helpful. Both starter and main course choices were limited but what they do they do really, really well. I had pan fried scallops and my friend had local lobster. Everything was spot on - no complaints whatsoever, and that includes the excellent Pouilly-Fume that we had with our meal.

Review of The Holly Bush Inn - Stafford - Staffordshire written 22 Feb 2012

They don't take bookings here, so get there early because after about 6:30pm you will almost certainly have a long wait. Nevertheless, the service is quick and the portions are 'substantial' so the starters are probably above and beyond most people's needs. If the weather is fine there is a large outdoor area to eat in as well.

All the food is ordered from the bar so don't expect lots of personal service, but staff are very helpful when needed. Good selection of drinks.

Review of The Thomas Arms - Llanelli - Carmarthenshire written 10 Nov 2011

If you want an excellent B&B with an inviting pub setting you should certainly visit The Thomas Arms. The accomodation has been totally refurbished to a high standard. Breakfast was cooked to order by friendly and accomodating staff, and evening meals are quality at a very reasonable price.

Nothing was too much trouble for the management and staff and you could tell that their desire to help was genuine and not staged. The bar and restaurant area was generally busy without being overwhelming and the locals were all very friendly. Ales were cask conditioned, so everything in good order there. All in all, a very pleasant stay with good food and drink.
