About The Embankment | |

The Embankment is an imposing mock-Tudor pub with luxuy rooms in the heart of Bedford. The clue to our location is in the name! We sit right in the middle of Bedford's beautifully-landscaped Embankment, with wonderful views out over the River Great Ouse, the boathouses and all the hustle and bustle of life on the river.

The Embankment Hotel was built in 1891 and has been renovated to reflect its late-Victorian heyday, but with all the modern comforts & facilities of a great pub. The atmosphere is relaxed & hospitable. There is no stuffy hotel lobby or residents' lounge, just a team of friendly faces to look after you. We have 20 comfortable en-suite bedrooms with free Wi-Fi as well as a spacious bar & eatery overlooking the river, a lovely shaded terrace and a private dining room for up to 24. Kelly McKenzie has been managing The Embankment since we took it over in 2008. Neil Simons is in the kitchen cooking a seasonal menu of fresh food, using top quality ingredients served at pub prices. We are open for breakfast, for coffee & cakes through the morning, serve lunch from noon, & have hot fresh food available all day & through the evening. We really look forward to meeting you soon! |

Very friendly, efficient staff and good food. I like the low lighting, buzzy yet cosy atmosphere. Nicely busy mid week and works well for a a quiet dinner or a large group. We're starting to go there regularly now, even though it's a bit of a trip from where we live. They serve food on a Sunday night which many others don't. Beautiful location. Can't fault it.

Excellent restaurant food served by helpful staff who have a proficient but easy going attitude. The menu is basic and down to earth but clearly uses high quality ingredients. They do a fantastic steak night every Wednesday but they also have great daily specials. Worth trying the sausage of the day with some great local specialities.
It's worth visiting The Embankment on the south side of Bedford along the river with lovely walks. Good honest gastro pub with no hidden charges or extras.
