The Sunday roast did not quite meet our expectations: waferthin slice of meat, and vegetables on the overcooked side.

Just had a rather disappointing Sunday Carvery at The Tynwald Hill. It wasn't that the food was bad - it was simply that the food could not be rated as 'good'.

From a choice of beef, pork or chicken, two of us had chicken, one had beef and one had pork. The chicken looked like shredded chicken leg or wing and the pork was sliced so thin you could see through it. The vegetables were plentiful but, sadly, all the food was only just warm.

On the plus side, that waiter (landlord?) was polite and smiley, but we all left feeling disappointed.

It all feels very run down and in need of a complete overhaul! Staff are friendly and beer is fine, but it's short in the 'atmosphere' department.

Just enjoyed a nice walk along the old railway track from Peel and I was sweating buckets, so a nice pint of something cool sounded just about right. Since we planned getting the bus back to Peel and we had over half-an-hour's wait, we called in The Tynwald Hill and sampled their beer.

Impressed! That's the only word I can use. I've driven past here a zillion times (and muttered about the bloody colour) but I've never been tempted to go in. well now I have, I shan't be slow going back. The beer was perfect, the landlord friendly and courteous, the surroundings comfortable and the (few) locals, very welcoming. Good 'un!
